Muhammad the Perfect Man
Rabiaa tber
One of God’s greatest blessings upon us is that God has bestowed us the complete religion, and the perfect Prophet: Muhammad (PBUH)
No one can grasp the height of perfection embodied in our Prophet Mohammed peace andblessings be upon him. Therefore, we offer only the best aspects of this Mohammedan perfection.
Perfection in the Mohammedan descent:
Allah has chosen from among the descendants of noble fathers for our prophet is Muhammad Ibn Abdullahibn Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abdul Manaf, and his lineage reaches our Lord Abraham.
He says:” Our master chose from the son of Abraham: Ismail, and he chose from the son of Ismail: the son of Kenanah, and chose from Kenanah, Quraysh and chose from Quraysh Bani Hashim and chose me from Bani Hashim.
As for Abdullah, the father of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he was one of the most honorable and dignified houses of Makkah. His motto was”As for Prohibitions, death is without them.”
Abdul-Muttalibis our Prophet’s(PBUH) grandfather. He was one of the sagest Arabians and most honorable Quraysh. In fact, he fed and watered the pilgrims until he died. Also, he is the one who won the privilege of digging the Zamzam well.
Hashim bin Abdul Manaf, whose name is Amr, isQuraysh pact’s founder. He was the first who traveled the two journeys to Quraysh: the winter journey to Yemen and Abyssinia, and the summer journey to al-Sham and Gaza. When Quraysh suffered from lean years, he went out to Al-Sham and ordered a lot of bread then he carried him on a camel to Makkah. Then, he crumbled and split the bread and slaughtered that camel and fed the people of Makkah and that is why he was called Hashim.
God has chosen this noble descent from pure wombs, where there were no fornicators among them (adultery) starting from Adam to his parents.
As narrated by Ali may God honor his face, the Prophet (PBUH) said:“I was born from a marriage and not from adultery, from Adam to my parents who gave birth to me. Never has my filiation been tainted with fornication even during Al-Jahilia”
And as narrated by Anas may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet said: ” none of my fathers are from Adams adulterers.”
And God Almighty made this noble descent in him alone, peace be upon him, no brother or sistershared it with him so he will be the seal of the prophets.
Perfection in the Mohammedan beauty:
God bestows His blessings on Prophet Mohammed (PBUH); his face, his sight, his voice, his body, and his walk.
But this goodness doesn’t tempt people because it is crowned with two great things:
First: the veneration and majesty, and second: the light and illumination.
Our mother Aisha may God be pleased by her said, ” When joyful, the Prophet’s face illuminates as if it were a piece of the moon.”
Abu Hurairah may God bless him said: “It is as if the sun draws its light from his face and moves.”
Umm Ma`bad described the Prophet (PBUH) and said to her husband:”“I saw a man who is handsome, of glowing countenance, and of good proportions, with neither a large stomach nor a small head. He is smart of appearance, with balanced features, deep black eyes, and long eyelashes. His voice is not coarse. He has a long neck, a full rounded beard, and thick eyebrows that meet each other. When he is silent, he is stately and composed, and when he speaks, his appearance is impressive.
He is the most beautiful and striking man from a distance and the best and most beautiful from close up. He is well spoken, clear in what he says, saying neither too much nor too little, his words flowing forth like a perfect string of pearls.”
The Prophet (PBUH) had a perfect sight; seeing during the night in the dark just as seeing during the day in the light. Also, seeing behind just as he sees ahead of him. He looked at the earth more than he looked at the sky for most his vision is for observation. His voice was also Perfect. His voice was full, well-toned, strong and full of manhood
He was neither too tall nor overly short. He was perfect concerning his cleanliness. His clothes, body and home are the cleanest. His smellwas good; It sticks at any place he came across. And his sweat smelled like Musk and Amber, and when his saliva was mixed with saltwater, it becamesmooth and prosperous.”
As for his touch, Anas may God bless him said: “I never touched any cloth, silk or anything, softer than his hands and I never smelt musk or perfume more fragrant than his sweat.”
Perfection the Mohammedan heart:
Allah Almighty had bestowedour Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) by giving him a perfect heart.
And the perfection of his heart lies in his mercy, tenderness, forgivenessknowledge, wisdom, vigilance, and forgiveness. It also lies in his piety, faith, certainty, modesty, loyalty and justice and it lies in its freedom of malevolence, jealousy, hatred, jealousy, suspicion, and hypocrisy.
Perfection in his forgiveness:
A Rabbi of the Jews, Zaid bin Su’na studied the signs ofNubuwaat, except for two signs that he had not tested:
The first one is that his self-control should outstrip his anger and the second is that his tolerance will control the display of any extreme foolishness.”
A Bedouin came to the Prophet (PBUH) and complained about the quality of life in a certain village as Zaid was listening so he said to the Prophet (PBUH): ‘ 0 Muhammad! Do you wish to sell to me this and that?’
Zaid bin Su’na opened his purse and paid eighty Taal of gold to the man and agreed with the Prophet (PBUH) on a specified date to return the debt. Zaid bin Su’na narrates further that he went to the Prophet before the expiry date of the termon purpose. Zaid bin Su’na came to the Prophet (PBUH) and grabbed hold of the Prophet’s collar, staring angrily into the face of the Prophet and said. “0! Muhammad! When are you going to pay my dues? By Allah! All that the children of Abdul Muttalib have learnt is how to procrastinate! By interacting with you people, I now have first-hand knowledge of this!Saidina Umar Al Khattabsaid, “0 enemy of Allah! Do you speak to the Prophet(PBUH) like that and treat him in this manner?Had it not been for respect of being in the company of the Prophet (PBUH), I would have cut off your neck! Zaid bin Su’na – says that all the while, the Prophet looked at him in a most calm and unruffled manner. The Prophet then said to Saidina Umar Al Khattab, “0 Umar! All that the two of us need is for you to tell me to pay him quickly and to tell him to place his demands in a better manner. 0 Umar! Go with him and give him his dues. Also, give him twenty Saa of dates extra because of the threat you gave him.’
And this is how Zaid’s soul was settled and assured because he found the two signs he was looking for.
Perfection in his justice:
When the Prophet was sick, before his death, he addressed to people and said: “He whom I have ever lashed his back, I offer him my back so that he may avenge himself on me.Whomever I have taken his money, here is mine so he will take from it; He whom I have ever blasphemed his honor, here I am offering my honor so that he may avenge himself.”And do not say, “Do not say, I fear enmity from the Prophet’s (PBUH) part. Enmity is neither my nature nor my concern.”A man then said: “You owe me three Dirhams.” The Prophet (PBUH)said: “Fadl, pay him the money.”
Perfection in his humility:
As narrated by Anas Bin Malik may Allah be pleased with him: The Prophet (PBUH) attended funerals, rode on donkeys, accepted the invitations of slaves, and visited the sick and said,”No harm, it will be apurification from sins, if Allah wills.”
A woman came to the Prophet (PBUH)and said: I would like to speak to you in private. The Prophet (PBUH) replied: ‘Sit on any street of Madinah and I will come there and listen to you'”.
And Aisha said:”He was a human from among other humans. He himself removed the lice from his clothing, milked his goats, and did all his work himself”
Perfection in his modesty:
The Prophet Muhammad was the most modest person among all people. Abu Dawud narrated that Aisha may God be pleased with her said: “When the Prophet (PBUH) was informed of anything of a certain man, he would not say: What is the matter with so and so that he says? But he would say: What is the matter with the people that they say such and such?” The Prophet(PBUH) faces no one with what he hates.
Ibn Abbas (RAA) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) used to bathe behind the rooms and no one has ever seen his private parts.
Perfection in his modesty also lies in not telling his guests, who stayed for long after eating, to leave until this verse came down: “O you who believe! Do not enter the homes of the Prophet, unless you are given permission to come for a meal; and do not wait for its preparation. And when you are invited, go in. And when you have eaten, disperse, without lingering for conversation. This irritates the Prophet, and he shies away from you, but God does not shy away from the truth”.
Perfection in his generosity:
The Prophet’s generosity was not for exhibitionism or exploitation, it was for the sake of God and in order to please Him.
His generosity lies in spending on the poor and orphans and freeing slaves.
Al-Tirmidhi narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) brought him ninety thousand dirhams placed on a mat. Then, he split it until he was done with it.
In Al Maghazi Al-Waqidi, when Safwan was wandering with the Prophet (PBUH) and checking sheep on a “Hunayn day”, he came across a group of camels and sheep so he kept looking at it. The Prophet (PBUH) said: Abu Wahab, do you like it? Safwan answered: yes. The Prophet said: It is all yours. Safwan said: I witness that you are the Messenger of God and no soul was pleased but the Prophet’s.
In Sunan Abu Dawood, Abd Allah Al Huzani said: “I met Bilal and told him, Bilal tell me, how was the Prophet’s (PBUH) maintenance? He said He had nothing and I was the one in charge of his money from his sent to his death. And if the Prophet (PBUH) came across a Muslim in need, he orders me to buy him Al-Burda, clothe, and food”.
Ibn ‘Abbas may Allah be pleased with him reported: “The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was the most generous men, and he was the most generous during the month of Ramadan when Jibril visited him every night and recited the Qur’an to him. During this period, the generosity of Messenger of Allah (PBUH) waxed faster than the rain bearing-wind”.
Perfection in his mercy:
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful{We did not send you except as a mercy to mankind} because the Prophet embodies mercy gifted to all mankind.
- Mercy towards disbelievers:
God Almighty has spared them the torment of the eradication in the world, whereaswhen God sent a messenger to the former nations, they denied and disbelieved him. Consequently, they all got punished like the people of Noah and Ad,Thamud, Lut, and others.
- Mercy towards hypocrites:
The Shariamade them safe from murder and captivity because of their apparent Islam in this world.
- Mercy towards oppressors:
During the battle of Uhud, the Prophet’ (PBUH)teeth got broken and he said: “O Lord forgive my people, for they do not know.”
When the Prophet (PBUH) visited Ta’if, he was pelted by stones and got extremely insulted. That is why, God sent Gabriel peace to be upon him with the angel of mountains so he can order him to do whatever he wished to them. But the Prophet (PBUH) said: “No but I hope that Allah will let them beget children who will worship Allah Alone, and will worship None besides Him.”
God granted the Prophet (PBUH) Makkah, and when people of Qurayshhurt him and got him out of Makkah and killed many of his family and friends, he told them: “Go, you are free.”
- Mercy towards children:
Anas b. Malik reported that the Prophet(PBUH) said: “When I begin a prayer that I intend to prolong and I hear a little childcrying; I then shorten it because of his mother’s feelings.”
Aisha may God be pleased with her narrates that aBedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, “You (people) kiss children! We do not kiss them.” The Prophet said, “I cannot put mercy in your heart after Allah has taken it away from it.”
Muslim narrated that Anas may Allah be pleased with him said: “I have never seen someone morecompassionate to children than the Prophet (PBUH). He used to wipe their heads and kiss them, and spoil them with fruit.”
- Mercy towards animals:
The Prophet (PBUH) used to abstain people from riding animals for a long period of time because it tires them. He said: “Ride it unscathed and leave it unscathed, and do not consider them chairs for your road talks to markets because they mention God more than the ones riding them.”
The Prophet (PBUH) entered the garden of a man from the Ansar. All of a sudden when a Camel saw the Prophet (PBUH) it wept tenderly producing yearning sound and it eyes flowed. The Prophet (PBUH) came to it and wiped the temple of its head and it became silent. Then he (PBUH) asked, “Who is the owner of this camel? A young Ansari stepped forward and said: “It is mine O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “Do you not fear Allah in respect of thisanimal which Allah has placed in your possession? This camel is complaining to me that you starve it andload it heavily which fatigues it.”
The Prophet (PBUH) forbade setting animals against each other and by frightening birds by their chicks, and killing them aimlessly. The Prophet (PBUH): Whoever kills a small bird for no reason, it will beseech Allah on the Day of Resurrection saying: O Lord, so and so killed me for no reason. And he did not kill me for any beneficial purpose.”‘
Perfection in his mind:
God Almighty bestowed our Prophet (PBUH) with a perfect mind, and this perfection is reflected in his (PBUH) success, to bring people out of their internal darkness into the light of virtuous humanity that makes life a devotional sanctuary.
The prophet (PBUH) disciplines allinstincts and transcend with them. A young man came to the Prophet (PBUH)to ask permission to commit adultery. So, the Prophet (PBUH) taught him by saying: “Would you like that for your mother or your daughter or your sister?” the man said, “No”. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “So do people”. The young man said: “I bear witness that I repented from adultery”.
The prophet (PBUH) wised Quraish up when placing the Black Stone. When Quraish constructedthe Kaaba, tribes fought about who will place the Black Stone in its place. They discussed, allied, and prepared to fight. They even filled a bucket with blood, put their hands in it and stayed there forfour or five nights. Then, they gathered in the mosque and agreed that the ruler is whoever enters the mosque first and it happened to be the prophet (PBUH). When they saw him, they said: “O Muhammad We are satisfied with this”. When they told him the news, the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Bring me a cloth” So, they brought it to him and he took the Black Stone, placed it in his hand. Then he said: “Leteach tribe grab a corner of the cloth then lift it collectively”.They did that until it reached its position so the Prophet (PBUH) grabbed it by his hand then built on it.
The Prophet (PBUH) honors the mind of the kings and the good selection of messages to them.
The Prophet (PBUH) sent Al-Alaa Al-Hadrami to Munzir ibn Sawaand sent with him a book inviting him to convert Islam. So, when he went to him, he said: “O Munzir! You have a great mind so do not lose in the afterlife. Magus is an evil religion. It does not value Arabs nor has knowledge about the people of the book. They get married and eat from God’s blessings. Yet, they worship the same fire that will devour them in the afterlife. And you are not a man with no opinion. So, look, should you disbelieve the one who does lie in this life? Should you not rely on the one who does not betray? Should you not trust the one who does not fail?”. So, Al Munzir said: “I found that Magus is a religion for life but not for the afterlife. And I found that your religion is for bothlife and the afterlife. So, nothing stops me from converting into a religion that has the wish of life and the comfort of death. I was amazed yesterday by those who accepted it and I was amazed today by those who refuse it and I will see what I will do. which means going to the Prophet (PBUH) or write to him (PBUH).
The Prophet (PBUH)sent an immigrant called ibn Omayaal-Makhzoumi,who is the brother ofommSalama umm al muminin, to Al Harith. So, when he came to him, he told him: O Harith, you were the first one Al Mustafa invited and you are the greatest king so if you look at the defeat of other kings, look at the defeater of all kings. And if your today gladdens you, fear your tomorrow. There have been kings before you whose traces left but their news stayed. They had long lives and high hopes but provided a little. Death caught some and indignations caught others. And I invite you to God, who if you want the right path, he will not stop you and if he wants you no one will excommunicate you from it. I invite you to the illiterate Prophet (PBUH). Nothing is better than what he commands and nothing is more hideous than what he proscribes. And Know that you have a God who kills the living and resurrects the dead and knows the fraud of the eyes, and all what the chests conceal.
His (PBUH) wisdom also lies in choosing for each status, an appropriate article. He (PBUH) addresses each community using their language. He(PBUH) uses his wisdom when people need it and as much as their minds can bear. He (PBUH) does not make his wisdom heavy on them and that is guidance to people gifted by God Almighty, He said: {You surely guide to a straight path}.
The Prophet (PBUH) instructs people to cope and communicate. He (PBUH) said: “You will not seek your money, so seek your morals” “The Muslim is the one from (the harm of) whose tongue and hand (other) Muslims are safe; and a Muhajir (Emigrant) is the one who refrains from what Allah has forbidden” “Your smileat the face of your brother is charity” “Management is half the life and courtesy is half of the mind ”

He said: “A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death” “No poverty is more extreme than ignorance and no money is more precious than the mind ” “Every religion has its distinct characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islam is modesty” “Truth leads to good deeds and good deeds lead to Paradise”
The Prophet (PBUH) makes people love to worship. He (PBUH) says: “Salat (prayer) is a light, and charity is a proof, and patience is illumination, and the Qur’an is an evidence in your favor or against you” “Fasting is paradise and is a shield from hell” “Al-Hajj Mabrur (i.e., one accepted) is nothing but Jannah” “A man does nothing to rescue himself from Allah’s punishment better than remembering Allah”.
